Conflict of Interest Policy
Jurnal Informatika STMIK DCI requires all authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members to disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect the objectivity, independence, and integrity of research or the scientific publication process in the fields of informatics and information technology.
Conflicts of interest may include financial, professional, academic, personal, institutional, or other relationships that could influence evaluations, research findings, or editorial decisions.
1. Authors
Authors are required to declare whether or not they have any conflicts of interest when submitting a manuscript to Jurnal Informatika STMIK DCI.
Conflicts of interest that must be disclosed include:
-
Research funding sources that may influence the research findings or their interpretation.
-
Relationships with companies, institutions, or organizations related to the research.
-
Ownership of shares, patents, copyrights, or other relevant intellectual property rights.
-
Professional, academic, or collaborative relationships with parties related to the research.
-
Personal or financial interests that may affect the objectivity of the research findings.
-
Any other interests that may affect the integrity of the research and publication.
If no conflicts of interest exist, authors may include the following statement:
“The authors declare that there are no conflicts of interest that could influence the conduct of the research, the interpretation of the results, or the publication of this article.”
2. Reviewers
Reviewers are required to disclose potential conflicts of interest and decline review assignments if they have relationships or interests that could compromise the objectivity of their assessments.
Reviewer conflicts of interest may include:
-
Personal, professional, or academic relationships with the authors.
-
Ongoing research collaborations or other relevant collaborative relationships.
-
Financial interests in the outcomes of the research being reviewed.
-
Direct involvement in the research or development of the system being evaluated.
-
Academic competition or other interests that may influence the review.
Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts and must not use information obtained during the review process for their own benefit or for the benefit of other parties.
3. Editors and Editorial Board Members
Editors and editorial board members are required to disclose any conflicts of interest related to manuscripts under consideration. Editors must not handle manuscripts if they have interests that could compromise the independence of their editorial decisions.
If a conflict of interest is identified, responsibility for handling the manuscript will be transferred to another editor who has no such conflict.
Editorial decisions must be based on scientific quality, originality, methodology, relevance, and the contribution of the research to the advancement of informatics and information technology, rather than on personal, financial, or institutional interests.
4. Funding Sources
Authors must clearly disclose the sources of research funding, including the names of funding institutions and grant numbers, where available.
If the research has not received specific funding from government agencies, private institutions, or other organizations, authors must clearly state this in the manuscript.
Funding information must be disclosed transparently to help readers assess the potential influence of funding on the conduct and outcomes of the research.
5. Handling Conflicts of Interest
If an undisclosed conflict of interest is identified, the editor will evaluate the matter based on the available information and evidence and may request clarification from the relevant parties when necessary.
Actions that may be taken include:
-
Requesting clarification or additional statements from the authors.
-
Requesting revisions or the addition of a conflict of interest declaration.
-
Replacing reviewers or editors who have conflicts of interest.
-
Suspending or discontinuing the editorial process, where necessary.
-
Publishing a correction or taking other editorial actions concerning an already published article, depending on the severity of the issue and the journal’s policies.
All actions will be taken objectively, fairly, and proportionately, while maintaining the integrity of scientific publication.
6. Principles of Transparency and Independence
Jurnal Informatika STMIK DCI is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, independence, and integrity throughout all research, peer review, editorial decision-making, and scientific publication processes.
The disclosure of a conflict of interest does not automatically result in manuscript rejection. Instead, the disclosed information is used to identify and manage potential influences on the objectivity of assessments and to safeguard the credibility of the publication process.
Jurnal Informatika STMIK DCI strives to ensure that all publication decisions are based on objective and transparent scientific considerations and are free from the undue influence of conflicts of interest that have not been appropriately managed.
