Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Jurnal Teknik Informatika STMIK DCI is committed to maintaining the quality, transparency, and integrity of the scholarly record in the fields of informatics engineering and information technology. After an article has been published, the journal continues to provide opportunities for the academic community, researchers, practitioners, and readers to submit responses, scientific criticism, clarifications, and reports of errors concerning published articles.
This policy aims to encourage constructive knowledge exchange, improve the quality of scientific publications, and ensure that issues relating to the validity of research findings are addressed responsibly. The handling of post-publication discussions and subsequent editorial actions follows the principles of publication ethics and relevant guidelines from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Forms of Post-Publication Discussion
1.1. Letter to the Editor
Readers may submit written comments, questions, criticism, or requests for clarification regarding published articles. Discussions may address research methodology, algorithms, program code, datasets, experimental results, system performance evaluations, data interpretation, or other aspects relevant to the content of the article.
Letters must be written in a polite and constructive manner, supported by adequate scientific arguments or evidence, and must not contain insults, personal attacks, or defamatory statements. The Editorial Board will assess the relevance, scientific quality, and compliance of each letter with journal policies before deciding whether to publish it.
1.2. Author Response
Authors whose articles are the subject of discussion will be given the opportunity to respond to comments or criticism received. Responses must be based on scientific arguments, data, and relevant explanations.
Where deemed appropriate by the Editorial Board, author responses may be published alongside readers’ comments or linked to the relevant article to ensure that the discussion is balanced and properly documented.
1.3. Commentary or Discussion Article
For issues requiring more in-depth consideration, the journal may consider publishing a commentary or scientific discussion article. Such articles may address developments in computational methods, algorithm evaluation, dataset validity, system security, experimental reproducibility, or other issues relevant to the advancement of informatics.
Commentary articles must present clear scientific arguments, be supported by relevant sources, and undergo the review process in accordance with the journal’s editorial policies.
2. Discussion Channels
Post-publication discussions may take place through official communication channels managed or designated by Jurnal Teknik Informatika STMIK DCI, including the following:
2.1. Open Journal Systems (OJS)
Readers may submit comments, questions, or responses through the facilities available on the journal’s official website, provided that the relevant features are enabled. This channel is preferred for communications directly related to published articles that require official documentation.

2.3. Other Communication Channels
Where available, the journal may use WhatsApp groups, Telegram, or other academic communication platforms to facilitate informal discussions among readers, authors, and journal management.
Discussions through these platforms do not replace the official procedures for submitting scientific criticism, reporting suspected misconduct, or requesting article corrections.
Guidelines for discussion channels:
-
All participants must observe academic ethics, communicate respectfully, and focus on scientific substance.
-
Participants must not distribute spam, advertisements, irrelevant links, or content involving personal attacks.
-
Criticism, corrections, or allegations requiring editorial follow-up must be submitted through OJS or the journal’s official email address.

Administrators of discussion platforms may issue warnings or restrict access for participants who violate these rules.
-
The Editorial Board may consider relevant discussions when evaluating previously published articles.

The Editorial Board will conduct an initial assessment of submissions and respond in accordance with the complexity of the case and the applicable editorial procedures.
4. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
If post-publication discussions or findings reveal errors or problems in an article, Jurnal Teknik Informatika STMIK DCI may take the following editorial actions, depending on the available evidence and the seriousness of the issue.
4.1. Correction (Correction/Erratum/Corrigendum)
A correction may be published to address errors in a published article, such as errors in writing, tables, figures, metadata, or other sections requiring amendment. In informatics engineering articles, corrections may also concern errors in the presentation of formulas, algorithms, system configurations, or specific data.
Corrections will be considered in light of their impact on the interpretation of the results and the research conclusions. The correction notice will be linked to the original article so that readers can identify the changes made.
4.2. Expression of Concern
An Expression of Concern may be published when there are indications of serious problems with the integrity or validity of an article, but the available evidence is insufficient to reach a final conclusion or the investigation is still ongoing.
This statement aims to inform readers transparently while the matter is being investigated.
4.3. Retraction
An article may be retracted if serious errors or ethical violations are found that undermine its validity, reliability, or integrity. Such cases may include data fabrication or falsification, plagiarism, manipulation of experimental results, unauthorized use of data, or other serious violations.
The retraction notice will transparently explain the reasons for the retraction and will be linked to the relevant article. The process will be conducted in accordance with the journal’s policies and relevant publication ethics guidelines.
5. Responsibilities of Authors and Readers
Authors are responsible for providing accurate clarifications and cooperating with the Editorial Board when questions or findings arise concerning their published articles.
Readers and researchers are expected to submit criticism based on evidence, data, and scientific arguments that can be substantiated. If errors or suspected misconduct are identified, reports should be submitted through the journal’s official channels so that they can be handled appropriately.
