Manuscript Types

Jurnal Informatika STMIK DCI accepts scholarly manuscripts relevant to developments in informatics, information systems, software engineering, artificial intelligence, computer networks, web and mobile technologies, the Internet of Things (IoT), and the application of information technology across various fields. Each manuscript must demonstrate a clear scientific contribution, be supported by an appropriate methodology, and comply with scholarly publication ethics standards.

1. Original Research Article

An original research article presents new research findings obtained through systematic investigation, experimentation, modeling, data analysis, system development, or other research approaches relevant to informatics and information technology.

The manuscript must systematically describe the research problem, objectives, methodology, results, discussion, and conclusions. Research contributions may include new findings, system development, algorithm implementation, technological innovation, or improvements in the performance of existing methods. All claims must be supported by data, test results, and relevant scholarly references.

2. Review Article

A review article presents a critical and systematic examination of previous research on a particular topic in informatics and information technology. Its purpose is to identify research developments, compare previously published approaches and findings, evaluate research limitations, and identify knowledge gaps and opportunities for future research.

This type of article may take the form of a narrative literature review, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), or a Systematic Mapping Study (SMS). Authors must transparently describe the literature search strategy, source selection criteria, analytical methods, and synthesis of findings in accordance with the approach adopted.

3. Methodological or Technical Article

A methodological or technical article discusses the development, refinement, implementation, or evaluation of methods, algorithms, computational models, system architectures, software, or emerging technologies in the field of informatics.

Topics may include artificial intelligence algorithms, image processing, data mining, information security, system optimization, software engineering, computer networks, and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The manuscript must explain the concepts and methodological procedures in detail, accompanied by adequate analysis or testing to assess the effectiveness, reliability, and potential reproducibility of the results. Comparisons with relevant methods are strongly encouraged when appropriate to the research objectives.

4. Application or Case Study Article

An application or case study article presents the application, development, or evaluation of information technology to address real-world problems in organizations, educational institutions, healthcare services, industry, government, or micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The article may cover the development of web-based or mobile information systems, decision support systems, IoT-based monitoring systems, business process digitalization, artificial intelligence implementation, and other technology applications.

The manuscript must describe the background of the problem, requirements analysis, development or implementation methods, implementation process, testing, and evaluation results. The article must provide clear benefits or insights and demonstrate its contribution to solving the identified problem rather than merely describing the process of developing or using a system.

5. Short Communication

A short communication presents important preliminary research results, specific findings of scientific value, focused technical innovations, or experimental results relevant to developments in informatics and information technology.

The manuscript should be concise while still presenting the research problem, methods, main findings, and conclusions. Although its scope is more limited than that of an original research article, it must be supported by sufficient evidence, demonstrate scientific relevance, and make a clear contribution to the field being discussed.

6. Editorial Considerations

The acceptance of each manuscript type by Jurnal Informatika STMIK DCI is determined by its relevance to the journal's aims and scope, originality, scientific quality, methodological rigor, research contribution, and compliance with publication ethics.

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editorial team before being considered for peer review in accordance with the journal's policies. Submission of a manuscript does not guarantee its acceptance for publication.

Authors must ensure that their manuscripts are original works, are not under consideration for publication in another journal, and comply with the journal's manuscript preparation and submission requirements.

Authors are encouraged to consult the Author Guidelines of Jurnal Informatika STMIK DCI or contact the editorial team if they require further information regarding the suitability of their intended manuscript type.
